Sunny Day Real Estate have returned with their first new single in 10 years, ‘Novum Vetus’, and announced a run of shows to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal album ‘Diary’.The emo legends, who announced their reunion in 2022, had been teasing the song earlier this week by sharing a minute-long snippet to Instagram. The sound soundtracks a video of an artist drawing the phrase “novum vetus”, (Latin for “everything old is new again”) and then sketching out a boat at sea, over which frontman Jeremy Enigk was heard singing: “The day we died inside, the world was suffering / 10,000 words collide but no one said a thing / the day we died inside the walls come tumbling down.”Although ‘Novum Vetus’ is only just seeing the light of day, it was first conceived when Sunny Day Real Estate were recording 1998’s ‘How It Feels to Be Something On’.

Sunny Day Real Estate have teased their first new music in 10 years on their social media.The emo legends, who announced their reunion in 2022, posted a minute-long snippet of a song on their Instagram. The song, which currently does not have a title, soundtracks a video of an artist drawing the phrase “novum vetus” (Latin for “everything old is new again”), then sketching out a boat at sea.Listeners can also hear frontman Jeremy Enigk singing the following verse: “The day we died inside, the world was suffering / 10,000 words collide but no one said a thing / the day we died inside the walls come tumbling down.”If the band are planning to tease an LP, it will be Sunny Day Real Estate’s first new record since their 2000 album ‘The Rising Tide’.

Sunny Day Real Estate play first live show in 12 years

Sunny Day Real Estate played a warm-up show on Saturday (September 10) ahead of their reunion tour, which kicks off this week.The show at Spokane Club in Washington was their first time performing in 12 years, with the line-up including Jeremy Enigk, Dan Hoerner, William Goldsmith, and new bassist Chris Jordan.The band kicked off the gig with ‘Seven’, and also played ‘Pillars’, ‘In Circles’ and 2014 single ‘Lipton Witch’, before finishing with ‘Days Were Golden’.Sunny Day Real Estate are set to begin their reunion tour tomorrow (September 13) at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kansas, with dates throughout September, October and December. Sunny Day Real Estate announce North American reunion tour

Sunny Day Real Estate have confirmed a headline tour of North America across September, October and December of 2022.The tour, announced yesterday (May 16), will serve as the band’s first headlining tour since 2010. Three of the band’s four founding members – frontman Jeremy Enigk, guitarist Dan Hoerner and drummer William Goldsmith – were all confirmed to be part of the band’s 2022 reunion earlier this year.Prior to the tour’s announcement, the band had announced two festival dates – Chicago’s Riot Fest and Furnace Fest in Birmingham, Alabama.

Sunny Day Real Estate to reunite and tour in 2022

Sunny Day Real Estate are set to reunite and tour for the fourth time in their career, returning over a decade after their last split.SPIN Magazine confirmed the reunion in an article on Monday (January 24), following speculation that arose from the creation of a new Instagram account with the handle @sdretour.The account was given some credence following several mentions of it by Sunny Day Real Estate drummer William Goldsmith on his own Instagram account – along with footage of him rehearsing the band’s songs at his home studio.Goldsmith is one of three founding members reportedly returning to the band, alongside frontman Jeremy Engik and lead guitarist Dan Hoerner. Founding bassist Nate Mendel, however, will not participate in the upcoming tour – instead committing to ongoing tour dates with Foo Fighters.Both Goldsmith and Mendel were enlisted in the original line-up of the Foo Fighters when it became a full band in 1995, shortly after Sunny Day Real Estate split up for the first time.
