The BRIT Awards 2024 have announced details of a partnership with No Music On A Dead Planet to further their commitment to environmental sustainability, NME can exclusively announce.The move is part of the BRITs “long-term vision” to “constantly review, innovate and adapt to deliver the awards’ sustainability goals”. As a result, the awards will be teaming up the climate action group Music Declares Emergency to launch the first public call to action for their global No Music On A Dead Planet campaign.

Garbage have announced their support acts for their huge 2024 London Wembley show and the reasons why they’ve chosen them.The band are soon to embark on their UK and Europe tour, where they conclude their tour with a huge concert at the arena on July 20. Shirley Manson and co also have plans to stop by Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bridlington and Wolverhampton before they round off their tour.Now, Garbage have announced their support acts, unveiling Savages frontwoman Jehnny Beth and Lucia & The Best Boys as the musicians joining them in July.“Beyond thrilled to have the great icon Jehnny Beth join us for our 20th July show in London at Wembley OVO Arena,” wrote Garbage on Instagram.

Watch our video interview with Beth above.Speaking to NME at this weekend’s Open’er Festival, the Savages icon turned solo star explained how her new material following on from 2020’s acclaimed ‘To Love Is To Live‘ was taking shape.“With my solo project I feel like, because of the pandemic, I haven’t really been able to show to the world what I can do,” she told NME. “I had to stay in Paris and I realised the talent I had around me, the amazing people who also wanted to work with me.

Jehnny Beth has written about ongoing mental health issues in the music industry and her hopes for younger artists to resist “age-old patriarchal abuse”.The Savages frontwoman and soloist, who last week released a collaborative album with Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie, posted a video of herself holding a burning stick as a symbol of shining “a light” on the state of the industry.“Today I want to shine a light on mental health issues in the music industry, because it doesn’t happen just in pop world but in the indie world too,” she began.“I know a lot of musicians who struggle to be heard and respected, even in 2021, one can still find oneself face to face with the inevitable attitude and language of the oppressor.
