Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has accidentally given players access to developer tools and revealed potential future content.Insomniac Games shared the 1.002.000 update yesterday (March 7), which introduced a New Game+ mode to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 alongside new suits, upgraded gadgets and the ability to replay missions.However, it also inadvertently gave players the ability to access the game’s debug menu – a developer tool used to jump about the game to check for bugs and launch various modifications.“We’re aware the latest game update may have inadvertently allowed access to a development game menu. Insomniac Games has shared that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will add a new game plus mode and mission replay options in a post-launch patch.In a post to X/Twitter, Director of Community and Marketing James Stevenson also advised that those who have opted for the physical version of the game should download the latest update for the game before playing.Update 1.001.002 “features polish to the gold master version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 available on disc, which improves the opening sections of the game and includes other general refinements to your Spidey experience, including some additional Accessibility Options”, explained Insomniac Games.Players who have pre-loaded the digital version onto their PS5s will have already have this update added to their copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.Stevenson did not have a specific date for when players will expect new game plus or mission replay to be introduced to the game. ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’ gets first PC patch with a “more substantial” one inbound
Marvel’s Spider-Man patch on PC has been released addressing a number of bugs, but some issues still remain including one that won’t allow players to take a picture of the Empire State Building.Version 1.817.1.0 is now live and manages to resolve a number of reported problems from players since the game was released on PC on August 12.“The teams at Insomniac Games and Nixxes Software have been closely monitoring player reports the past days and based on that we have released a first small patch with multiple fixes and improvements,” the developer said in the patch notes.However, although many fixes have been implemented with the patch, Insomniac has said that it’s currently working on the next PC update that will be “more substantial.”“Rest assured we are not done though,” it added. “We are already working on our next patch, that will be more substantial and will consist of bugfixes, improvements and additional features, based on the feedback we have received so far.”While patch 1.817.1.0 resolves some issues regarding ray-tracing, crashes, and general bugs that affect cutscenes, stability and the game’s visuals, some more common problems are still present.These “known issues” include a frame rate-related bug where players are unable to progress during the ‘Spider-Hack’ mission.
