HYBE and its subsidiary label ADOR has emerged as one of the most high profile feuds we’ve witnessed in K-pop in recent memory.ADOR, which houses popular K-pop girl group NewJeans, is helmed by former SM Entertainment creative director Min Hee-jin and was once poised to become one of HYBE’s most lucrative labels. However, it is now at the centre of an alleged power struggle over the treatment and management of NewJeans and future creative projects under ADOR.Founded in November 2021, Min Hee-jin launched the label after two years as HYBE’s Chief Brand Officer.

NewJeans’ parents and HYBE subsidiary Belift Lab have trades opposing statements over an alleged bullying incident involving NewJeans member Hanni and the manager of girl group ILLIT.Last month, NewJeans held a surprise livestream voicing their support for former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin amid the music executive’s ongoing feud with parent company HYBE. During the stream, Hanni spoke of an alleged incident where the manager of another group told them to “ignore her” when they encountered one another at the company’s headquarters.During the stream, Hanni did not name the group involved but claimed she had reported the incident to new ADOR CEO Kim Ju-young, who allegedly “tried to gloss over the situation” due to lack of evidence.In a new interview with Ilgan Sports, the mothers of two NewJeans members voiced their concerns over Kim’s handling of the matter, expressing doubt on the integrity of the investigation.

Belift Lab, the K-pop agency behind K-pop girl group ILLIT, has reportedly sued Min Hee-jin, the CEO of NewJeans‘ agency ADOR. Both companies are subsidiaries of entertainment giant HYBE.According to news reports by Yonhap News Agency and Korea JoongAng Daily, Belift Lab filed a defamation complaint against ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin for claiming that ILLIT had plagiarised the Min-produced girl group NewJeans.“We filed a complaint against CEO Min for making false claims unilaterally against our company and artists and causing damage,” Belift Lab said in a statement.

The latter has since gone viral and subsequently made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 91, making it the only debut song by a K-pop act to achieve such a feat.The girl group – comprising Wonhee, Minju, Iroha, Moka and Yunah – were formed through the JTBC reality TV series R U Next?. ILLIT have scored their first Billboard Hot 100 hit with their viral debut single, ‘Magnetic’.According to a new X (formerly Twitter) post by Billboard, ILLIT’s ‘Magnetic’ will make its debut on the Hot 100 at the Number 91 spot. It’s the girl group’s first-ever entry on the weekly ranking, as well as the only debut song by a K-pop act to chart on the Hot 100.Aside from the Billboard Hot 100, ILLIT’s ‘Magnetic’ has also been gaining traction on Spotify’s Weekly Music Charts.

ILLIT, the latest girl group from HYBE, have become the new faces of Acne Studios’ latest SS24 global campaign.The luxury fashion house made the announcement on their official X (formerly Twitter) account yesterday (March 14), with a brief 23-second video of the quintet posing in outfits from the brand’s SS24 collection.The clip also notably features a snippet of an upcoming song by ILLIT, credited by Acne Studios to as ‘My World’.
