In the early 2010s, Jeffrey Lamar Williams — the Atlanta rapper known as Young Thug — began building an empire. He founded the YSL collective out of his home in the Jonesboro South projects, enlisting friends, family members, and acquaintances.

Hours before ex-President Donald Trump surrendered to arrest in Georgia, his legal team added a new attorney: Steve Sadow, who previously represented Gunna in Fulton County DA Fani Willis' RICO prosecution of Young Thug's Young Slime Life collective. Willis is also responsible for last week's 13-count indictment of Trump on election crimes, for which he was ordered to surrender to arrest and arraignment no later than tomorrow, August 25. Trump's representatives confirmed the addition of Sadow to the team, as reported by CNN analyst Maggie Haberman, earlier this morning.

Gunna has dropped his new album a Gift & a Curse. The album was announced yesterday and features the single “bread & butter,” released earlier this month.

Gunna has new music on the way. In a tweet shared on the rapper’s 30th birthday Wednesday night (June 14), he wrote shared a title, “a Gift & a Curse,” a cover illustration, and a pre-save link.

As soon as the news broke, Gunna released a statement insisting that he had not co-operated with prosecutors in exchange for the deal, but that didn't stop the rap world from labeling him a snitch (something which may not be entirely fair).

ABC News Studios have released a trailer for a forthcoming documentary called Rap Trap: Hip-Hop on Trial. Premiering February 23 on Hulu, the film will focus on the trials of Young Thug and Gunna within the broader indictment targeting their YSL crew.

Gunna (real name Sergio Kitchens) has been denied bond for a third time, some four months after his last request was shot down by a Fulton County judge. The rapper, whose bond was first denied in May and again in July, had his third plea rejected yesterday (October 13). It’s expected that Kitchens will remain in jail until he heads to trial, a which date for which is currently pegged to be held on January 9, 2023.

Fulton County district attorney Fanni Willis has confirmed that she will continue to use song lyrics in court, including the forthcoming trial of Young Thug, Gunna, and other members of the YSL collective. Willis spoke during an August 29 press conference in which she stated: "If you decide to admit your crimes over a beat, I’m gonna use it." Willis was asked if she is looking to demonize the Atlanta rap community, to which she responded “I’m not targeting anyone.” She went on, however, to say that people "do not get to commit crimes in my county and then decide to brag on it – which you do… for a form of intimidation, and to further the gain – and not be held responsible." Gunna’s chances of pre-trial release are significantly lower after a Georgia judge denied him bond for the second time in a Thursday hearing, Billboard reports and Gunna’s attorney Steve Sadow confirms. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville, who first turned down Sadow’s bond proposal in late May, refused to reconsider his decision, citing his earlier concern that the Atlanta rapper, whose legal name is Sergio Kitchens, would intimidate witnesses if released.

Lil Durk and Gunna have paid tribute to the late Virgil Abloh with a new music video for ‘What Happened To Virgil’.The music video – released on Tuesday, April 12 – was directed by Cole Bennett and features multiple sets that were inspired by the work of the late Louis Vuitton artistic director and Off White founder.
