Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz has spoken to NME about the band stepping up to headlining Download Festival 2024 for the first time – as well as celebrating “weirdness” on their current tour.The band were announced to be topping the bill at the legendary rock festival last night, alongside Queens Of The Stone Age and Avenged Sevenfold. Speaking backstage in Germany, Wentz told NME that he wasn’t feeling pressured about the slot.“So many of the bands who have headlined Download before have been such a big influence on us,” he explained.

Slayer’s Kerry King, Creeper and Soft Play are among the names that have been added to this year’s bumper line-up for Download Festival.The festival will return to Donington Park for its 21st edition from June 14-16 this year. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.Other new additions include Bayside, Bambie Thug, Lowlives, Florence Black and Mallavora.Last November, Queens Of The Stone Age, Avenged Sevenfold and Fall Out Boy were announced as the headliners of Download Festival 2024.Royal Blood, The Offspring, Machine Head, Pantera, Bad Omens, Corey Taylor, While She Sleeps, Sum 41, Billy Talent, The Used, Babymetal, Bowling For Soup, Heilung, Polyphia, Thy Art Is Murder, The Black Dahlia Murder, Biohazard, and Fear Factory were also part of that first wave of names added to the bill.In January, a host of further names were added, including Busted, Wheatus, Tom Morello and Enter Shikari.Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes, The Struts, Mr Bungle, The Hunna, Escape The Fate, HEALTH, Code Orange and Royal Republic were also added.In an interview with NME, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme reflected on their decision to step up and headline the 2024 edition of the festival, saying they see “no reason to trip out” over the set.“Is it just going to be same-old-same-old?’ said Homme.

Download Festival could be under threat if there is a repeat of this year’s traffic issues, the head of Leicestershire County Council has warned.The festival caused severe congestion on the roads around Donington Park in Leicestershire as fans arrived on June 7 and 8. Some of them said it took them up to seven hours to get on the site.Nick Rushton, the council leader, described the situation as “an absolute disaster” with the worst queues he’d seen in Download’s history.

Download Festival has added over 40 new names to its line-up today (February 16) and has announced its 2023 day splits.New names for the festival this year include the Halestorm, Alter Bridge, Neck Deep, Bob Vylan, Carcass, Five Finger Death Punch, Jinjer, Coheed and Cambria, Electric Callboy and Hot Milk and The Amity Affliction.Download had previously announced the 2023 event would be headlined by Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon and Metallica playing two completely different sets on two different nights. Download Festival.Leicestershire Police told BBC News that the man was taken to hospital on Saturday evening (June 11) when Iron Maiden were the headline act.The force said that the festival attendee’s death was being treated as unexplained and that inquiries are ongoing.This year’s Download Festival took place from Friday (June 10) until Sunday (June 12) at Leicestershire’s Donington Park. The Distillers have announced that they’ve postponed all their European festival appearances, as well as their June headline tour.The Brody Dalle-fronted band shared a statement on social media that said: “It is with great regret that The Distillers have been forced to postpone their upcoming European festival appearances and headline tour this June.”“The band express their sincere apologies to all of the fans and hope to return to Europe to play the headline shows as soon as they can, so please hold onto your tickets.”A post shared by THE DISTILLERS (@thedistillers)No reason for the postponement was given however earlier this week, fellow American band The Pretty Reckless also canceled their European summer tour “due to unforeseen logistical challenges.”Both bands were due to play the UK leg of Download Festival, with The Distillers due to headline the second stage on the Friday (June 10), with The Pretty Reckless scheduled to play before Deftones and Iron Maiden on the Saturday (June 11). The festival is yet to confirm replacements.The Distillers were also booked to play Austria’s Nova Rock as well as Sunstroke Festival in Ireland alongside headline shows in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg.
