The San Diego Police Department is investigating an alleged homophobic attack, claiming that new evidence shows the purported victim, a gay man, assaulted a woman before she set him on fire. Last week Scott Rowin, 39, claimed to have been set on fire during a homophobic attack. Metro Weekly reached out to San Diego Police for additional details after the story first broke, but the department never responded to multiple requests for comments. Rowin told San Diego ABC affiliate KGTV that he was set on fire by two people yelling homophobic slurs.

A gay couple was attacked by a group of teenagers in Drogheda, Ireland, on June 18, while out walking their dog.The couple was walking near Saint Dominic’s Park, near the outskirts of town, when the teens began throwing stones at the couple while hurling anti-gay slurs at them and even threatening to rape their dog. The teens also punched and kicked the couple during the attack, calling them “f*****s and queers,” breaking at least one of the men’s nose during the attack according to the Irish Mirror.Ivan Miadini, one of the husbands, filmed the incident on his cell phone. “They started throwing punches and rocks, even bigger rocks,” Miadini told Michael Reade, a local radio host.

New York Daily News.Given the use of anti-gay slurs, and the seeming randomness of the attack, the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the attack.Police have released a photo of the alleged assailant and are asking for the public’s help identifying him. The suspect is described as a bald man between 25 to 40 years old, and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black pants, dark brown boots, and carrying a black book bag.Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).The attack comes at a time when anti-gay sentiment is on the rise in response to increased LGBTQ visibility.Recently, three men were caught on surveillance camera destroying Pride flags mounted on a fence near the historic Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village.In May, a homeless man was charged with several hate crimes for allegedly defecating on an LGBTQ Pride flag and wiping his behind with another.

Fox 5 New York.The couple then say the suspects began beating them, hurling profanity-laden insults and remarks about their sexual orientation during the attack.Both were injured in the assault and sent to Mount Sinai Hospital.One of the men needed to have a metal plate put into his fractured jaw. The couple says Times Square was full of people when the attack occurred, but no one intervened to stop the assault.The New York Police Department confirmed to Fox News that the investigation remains ongoing, although no arrests have been made yet in the case. Instagram post showing him in a neck brace with bruises and dried blood all over his face, Barry Miles wrote that he was jumped by two unknown men after leaving Powerhouse, a popular LGBTQ bar on Folsom Street in the city’s SoMa neighborhood.Miles wrote that his wallet was stolen, and that he suffered a heart attack during the assault due to high cholesterol, requiring doctors to put in two stents.“My face hit the sidewalk,” he wrote. “Also a front tooth was knocked out, and a small fracture in my neck.

LGBTQ Nation.Klenke, who is only 5’2″ and 125 pounds, was able to escape by rolling onto his back and pushing away from the attacker with his feet. Klenke suffered a black eye, bruises and scratches to his face during the attack.  After escaping, Klenke called an Uber.

La Dépêche reports.According to police, the man — the mayor of a small village in the administrative division of Aveyron — was attacked around midnight on Friday, Sept. 10, after getting out of his car.Two people kicked and punched him, police said, before stripping the mayor of his clothes.

Edinburgh Evening News, the men — understood to be a married couple — were talking to a woman when four men approached them and started to punch, kick, and spit on them in an “unprovoked” attack.“The gay men did not fight back, they only tried to defend themselves,” the witness said.

Yorkshire Live reports.One of Mitchell’s sons responded by noting that he had gay and transgender friends and was offended by his father’s remarks.Mitchell “made comments that he did not like or understand these ‘types of people,'” prosecutor Eddison Flint told Sheffield Crown Court.His other son said that he agreed with his brother and told both Mitchell and his stepmother to stop being “c**ts,” which prompted Mitchell to attack.“The defendant took exception to this and stood up, there was then a confrontation between the defendant and his son,” Flint said.

The Acadiana Advocate, Seneca called 911 and told the operator he had just murdered a man and would wait for police outside of his father’s house. He was then arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder.

New York Post. When the teen exited the bus, the man followed him and punched him in the face and back of the head. The man then jumped back on the bus and rode off, according to radio station 1010WINS.The teen’s head was bruised in the blitz attack, but he refused medical attention at the scene. Police are now seeking the assailant, who is shown in the video wearing a royal blue shirt with a red-and-white collar, jeans, a dark-colored jacket, and who has longer brown hair pulled back into an untidy “man bun.” The man appears to be at least in his 40s, though it is hard to identify someone’s age from just looking at their face.See also: D.C.

CBS Miami that he was subjected to targeted harassment while trying to vote at the city’s Coral Ridge Mall.“I encountered a number of people who were there on behalf of the Trump campaign who immediately accosted me,” Trantalis said, “calling me pedophile, started calling me a faggot and thought it was fun.”He added: “They had a blow horn and they were just announcing it all over the place.”Trantalis said that it wasn’t an isolated incident, claiming that he was targeted at another early voting location and was subjected to homophobic “dog whistle” attacks in the area around his home.“Right around my house, people, I had yard signs for my campaign, and people attached little pink flags with my name on it within two blocks from my house,
