The survival chances of a British woman who has been missing for eight days after setting off on an illegal hike are "extremely low", search teams said today.
Esther Dingley, 37, has been missing in the Pyrenees for more than a week. But despite a large-scale search across steep cliffs and mountain lakes, search teams have not found "any trace" of her.
Today, a spokesman for French high mountain police said snow was now falling and temperatures were as low as -10C in the area where she was last seen.
He said: "The chances of finding this young woman alive are extremely low given the temperatures at this altitude. "There is no sign of the yellow tent she had taken with her, and her dark clothes could complicate the search." The spokesman
