Suranne Jones suffered whiplash and bruising after performing stunts for new BBC drama

The Doctor Foster star, who celebrates her 43rd birthday later this month, plays DCI Amy Silva, a police officer investigating a mysterious death on a Royal Navy vessel in the BBC Sunday night drama.

But the daredevils stunts have taken a physical toll on her body as Suranne told how she was left 'hobbling home' following a day of filming the physically demanding role.

She told The Sun: "I forgot how old I was. I thought I was 23 when I was reading it, and that’s not true any more. "So I had to do a lot of working out just to build up my strength in order to do those scenes."I got whiplash, I put my back out a couple of times and I was covered in bruises.
