A mum has slammed her son's school trip fees as 'utterly ridiculous' after discovering she could take her family of six away to Center Parcs for the same price.
Emma Mellor was left stunned by the hefty £799 price tag for her son's three-night trip from Manchester Airport to Krakow, in Poland - especially after realising the cost only covered two evening meals.
Writing to her son's teachers, she said the opportunity was 'out of reach' for many families to afford. The mum-of-five said she would have to tell her 11-year-old son she was unable to afford the trip as she has four other children to consider, reports WalesOnline. Parents were also told that for their child to attend they would have to stump-up a non-refundable £300 deposit to the school by July 10 - just 11 days after receiving the initial email.
The 40-year-old mum said the excursion was emailed out to parents as an 'exciting opportunity' for students to join in, but said the price seemed 'out of reach' for many families to afford.
