Students and workers in Lanarkshire town evacuated over fears of major gas leak

A large number of workers and students have been evacuated in a Lanarkshire town after fears of a major gas leak. Fire crews remain at the scene at Wardpark Industrial Estate in Cumbernauld, while gas engineers are also on site investigating the matter.

It came as many concerned residents reported a "strong smell of gas" throughout the town at around 10am this morning.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
