Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hauer has spoken out on the hit BBC One show’s recently inclusion of it’s first same-sex dance couple.
Dancer Katya Jones and boxer Nicola Adams made history in 2020 after being the first female couple to participate in the competition.A year later pro dancer Johannes Radebe and celebrity chef John Whaite became the first male pairing of the show.Now 39-year-old professional dancer Karen has explained her thoughts on a potential female partnership in an interview with Daily Star.She described the prospects of showcasing same-sex dancing in the 2022 series as “a beautiful thing”.Karen said: "It would be great to dance with another female this year.
I’d really love that.“It’s a beautiful thing that the show is opening up to it now. It’s not taboo anymore."It’s a beautiful thing to be able to show same-sex dancing.
It’s normal now and that’s the way it should be.”Karen has yet to discuss her participation in the upcoming series with the programme’s bosses.But after 10 years in the show, the pro dancer is hoping to return to the dance floor.She said: "It will be my 11th year.
