Reflecting on her own experience from 11 years ago, Vanessa Feltz has questioned the fairness of the Samba-thon for Chris McCausland, who is making history as the first-ever blind contestant on the BBC show. The Liverpool-born comedian and his dance partner Dianne Buswell were the first to be eliminated from the Samba-thon, which involved all couples dancing simultaneously.
Despite this setback, Chris survived the latest round as EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick was sent home on Sunday night. Fans have already voiced their concerns, calling the Samba-thon "unfair" towards Chris due to his disability.
After the episode, Chris expressed pride in his performance but remained tight-lipped about the Samba-thon, posting: "I was really proud of our dance on Saturday, and as for the Sambathon...[zipped-mouth emoji] ....Well thank you so much for all of your votes." Vanessa also criticised the chaotic nature of the Samba-thon and its impact on Chris and Dianne.
On her YouTube channel, she commented: "Was it fair to put them in this context?" before adding, "Was it fair or was it just a way of giving Chris the fewest points and moving him down the leaderboard and saying without saying 'goodbye, sayonara, farewell'.
