BBC bosses are hoping to poach Holly Willoughby for this year's Strictly Come Dancing, and are reportedly offering her a presenting role on the show. The experienced presenter, 42, has worked on ITV daytime show This Morning since 2009 but according to an insider has "good relationship" with BBC bosses, who have been looking to poach her from their rival for a while now.

Holly worked with the BBC last year with Lee Mack when the pair hosted Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof. And now the channel is looking to bring the TV star into a presenting role on Strictly, currently presented by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

A BBC insider told The Mail on Sunday: "Holly is the golden goose. BBC bosses want her and they have been plotting for some time to get her for their big shows. "They know how popular she is, but it also has to be the right programme.

Recently there has been talk around the BBC that Strictly would be a way to lure her over. There are ideas of how she could slot in – nobody is quite sure about that yet but they think she would be perfect. "It seems like a big project to get her to do it, and would mean moving things around on the show somehow, but there are some executives at the BBC who want it to happen." Last November Holly was said to be getting "wooed" by the BBC, with the ITV star being the BBC's guest of honour at the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards, after being personally invited by BBC content boss Charlotte Moore.
