Following Phillip Schofield's departure from ITV's This Morning last week, Strictly Come Dancing bosses are said to have him in their sights for the new series.

Phillip, 61, presented his last episode of the daytime show on Thursday after reports of a huge feud with his friend and co-host Holly Willoughby.

Following on from his shock announcement over the weekend, bosses at the BBC are said to be keen to convince the Dancing On Ice host to get his ballroom shoes on.

An insider told The Sun: "Phil is in the sights of Strictly. They would love to have him on board because of the publicity it would generate for the show." "Since he was axed from This Morning, people have been discussing what they could do with him." Phillip decided to leave the ITV show after 21 years after "This Morning itself became the story," and ITV decided the situation could not continue.
