Passsengers have been stuck on a ferry for over 12 hours off the coast of Northern Ireland after departing Scotland in the early hours of the morning amid Storm Darragh chaos.
The Stena Line ship which left Cairnryan port in Dumfries and Galloway at 1am has been forced to take shelter on the Antrim coast until conditions improve.The Stena Superfast VII was on it's way to Belfast.
The ferry company said they are closely monitoring conditions before it's safe to dock. Another Stena Line ship is reporedly also sheltering from the conditions in the Kilbrannan Sound between Arran and the Kintyre peninsula.All crossings netween Cairnryan and Belfast have been cancelled for the remainder of the day.A Stena Line spokesperson said: "Due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh, Stena Superfast VII has been unable to berth in Belfast."Passengers have been informed and are being taken care of onboard.
