A stolen narrowboat was eventually boarded by police after possibly the slowest chase ever encountered. Officers pursued the vessel for 13 miles, travelling at around 4mph on the Grand Union Canal in Leicestershire.
Officers from Leicestershire's Harborough Police joined police from Northamptonshire on the low-speed chase, Leicestershire Live reports.
Once officers from both forces had had a chance to catch their breath, they shared photographs of themselves aboard the captured vessel - which is believed to be called 'Elusive'.
In a tweet from the Harborough Police account, an officer said: "In a career first and following a 13 mile ‘follow’, we completed a hard stop on a stolen canal boat! "The boarding party was led by Sergeant Archer
