Steven Gerrard has broken his silence over the news that Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool.The Anfield gaffer revealed hat he will walk away from the top job at the end of the season in a shock announcement that caught many off guard.

His decision will bring an end to his eight-and-a-half-year stay at the club which has seen them lift six major trophies under his guidance to date.

He has another Wembley ticket stamped with a League Cup Final with Chelsea on the horizon while his team are also sitting top of the English Premier League currently and fighting for both the Europa League and FA Cup.The likes of Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen - a former Liverpool midfielder - has given his reaction to the news with his side flying high at the top of the Bundesliga and unbeaten at this stage.

He's one of the early favourites to take over from Klopp. Reacting to the news, he explained: "First of all it was a surprise [Klopp stepping down] but as well I have huge respect for Jurgen.
