Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Steven Gerrard issues coronavirus statement with Rangers schedule unclear

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard doesn't want the Scottish Premiership season to continue into summer at the risk of burning out players.

The majority of European leagues have suspended play as the coronavirus continues to spread across the world. Scottish football fixtures have been postponed and it is unclear whether the season will continue or be scrapped full stop before the summer.

Rangers are currently 13 points behind rivals Celtic in the league after a slump in form of late. But Gerrard doesn't seem to be too fazed by the prospect of the season being voided in the new few weeks. "Players' welfare is paramount right now.
