Steven Gerrard had missiles thrown at him as he celebrated in front of the Celtic fans after scoring in a charity game at Anfield against his old rivals.

The former Rangers boss captained the Liverpool legends side and there was a healthy Celtic support with club football on ice for the international break.

He was among the starters alongside the likes of Charlie Adam and Steve McManaman against a Parkhead team featuring Stiliyan Petrov, Robbie Keane and Mikael Lustig among other familiar faces.Former Ibrox gaffer Gerrard and midfielder Adam weren't popular figures among the visiting fans and they were seen giving a bit back after they were booed standing over a free-kick.

And just minutes later, Liverpool were awarded a penalty with Gerrard stepping up to convert it. He then made a beeline for the away fans behind the goal and objects were seen being thrown onto the pitch from the away end.Speaking after the goal the Liverpool TV commentary team joked: "In 17 seasons here at Liverpool this will probably be his favourite goal," as Gerrard raced to celebrate in front of the Celtic fans.
