Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Borna Barisic could miss Sunday's clash with Livingston after limping out of the 2-0 win over Standard Liege on Thursday night.
But he's backed Calvin Bassey to fill his boots if he's called upon to cover for the Croatian after another impressive showing from the young left-back.
The 20-year-old replaced Barisic in the first half and didn't look out of place as he defended well and helped out in attack. He was caught out once with a ball over the top but his energy and work rate down the left hand side was matched by his ability to beat a man and fire in a cross.
And although Gerrard is hopeful that Barisic will be available after his scan, the Rangers boss isn't too concerned about his back up.
