It was obvious from the opening embers of the 4-0 pre-season win over Liverpool in Thailand that Diogo Dalot was going to play a big role for Erik ten Hag this season.

The right-back was seen marauding up and down the flank, overlapping and underlapping Jadon Sancho. Dalot had a tepid season last term, establishing himself as the club’s primary right-back but being too passive amid the team’s woeful form.

Barring injury, he’s set to exceed the 30 appearances he tallied last season with Ten Hag firmly seeing Aaron Wan-Bissaka as second choice.

His tactics have also rounded Dalot’s game to the point where he felt like he could cope with him being his main right-back until at least January.
