President Trump is about to announce a massive AI program. The 78-year-old President of the United States is set to announce a private sector investment to build artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States, via CBS News. OpenAI, Softbank and Oracle are planning a joint venture with the United States government called Stargate, according to multiple people. Keep reading to find out more… SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son is expected to arrive at the White House Tuesday afternoon (January 21), as well as Sam Altman of OpenAI and Larry Ellison of Oracle.

The executives are expected to commit $100 billion to Stargate initially, a figure which could reach up to $500 billion over the next four years, according to the report.

Stargate will reportedly begin with a data center project in Texas before expanding to other states. The new AI program comes after Trump has said he wants to “dominate” when it comes to AI innovation.

In March of last year, a report from The Information claimed OpenAI and Microsoft were working on plans for a $100 billion data center project that would include an artificial intelligence supercomputer called “Stargate” set to launch in 2028.
