Disney+ appears to have redeemed Star Wars fans with the latest instalment of The Acolyte. From showrunner Leslye Headland, the new series is set at the end of the High Republic era before the events of the Skywalker Saga.

It follows a Jedi investigation into a series of crimes, starring Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Charlie Barnett and Dafne Keen.

Releasing weekly, episode five dropped on Wednesday night (June 26) and saw a major fight scene breakout, killing off a number of major characters.

Despite being devastated by the deaths, fans have hailed the scenes 'must-watch TV'.
