SPFL bosses last night angrily denied claims chairman Murdoch MacLennan may have lied about loaning money to clubs.MacLennan was under pressure after evidence emerged to challenge claims no loans had been granted by the SPFL in the last seven years.The SPFL chairman told member clubs and fans earlier this week in an open letter his organisation had not made a loan to a senior Scottish team since 2013.But can reveal the SPFL made payments ahead of schedule totalling £300,000 to Motherwell and Partick Thistle as recently as 2017 - and MacLennan and chief executive Neil Doncaster signed off on the accounts.However, the SPFL insisted last night that the sums forwarded to the clubs were not loans, but an advance on normal fee payments.’A
