Murdoch MacLennan insists the SPFL had no choice but to cut the season short and crown Celtic champions of the Premiership.
The decision also sees Hearts relegated to the Championship as the SPFL chairman offered commiserations to the Tynecastle club but MacLennan insists the league had no other options.
The league had been postponed in March because of the coronavirus crisis and an initial vote to end the lower leagues was made soon after.Hearts could launch legal action against the governing body but the decision offers Celtic the chance to get an historic 10th league title in a row next season.
