smashed into a shop in Renfrew has been spared jail.Imran Akmal, 32, was handed a £5,000 fine and banned from the roads for three years.Akmal left his brother with a fractured spine after driving at double the 30mph speed limit and ploughing into Ferry Nice Foods.Akmal denied causing serious injury by dangerous driving during the incident on May 14, 2018.However, a jury at Paisley Sheriff Court convicted him of causing serious injury to Usman Akmal - his 21-year-old brother - leaving him with a fractured spine, broken thumb and scratches on his face, by driving his Volkswagen Golf R dangerously.The street where the crash happened - Ferry Road, Renfrew - had to be closed while officers investigated the smash.The court heard the shop was shut.
