The Dumfries public’s fascination with the town centre’s 142-year-old fountain has led to speculation over the water turning pea green this summer.
The council unveiled the B-listed combined cascade and spray fountain in June last year following painstaking restoration work by Wigan-based Lost Art, in a £390,000 project.
It also included a tank being created for a new water treatment and pumping system installed to meet modern safety standards.
Officially called The Sun Foundry Fountain, it has proved a popular attraction to the public and visitors during the past 12 months.
