Southampton midfielder Alexandre Jankewitz suffered racist abuse online after Tuesday's match at Manchester United, the Saints have confirmed.
The south coast club has passed the abusive social media posts aimed at the 19-year-old on to Hampshire Police. Jankewitz was sent off in the second minute of the clash at Old Trafford, which ended in a resounding 9-0 victory to for hosts United.
The abuse directed at the youngster comes soon after Red Devils trio Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Axel Tuanzebe were on the receiving end of similar online trolling.
The recent flurry of vile abuse has led to renewed calls for the government to act against those who use social media as a platform for hate crime.
