It's not an April Fools joke: Skrillex has indeed dropped a new album. But the electronic titan's latest colossal effort, F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!!
3, is certainly in on the bit. The 34-track fifth studio album was announced the day before on Instagram and is his final release on his label OWSLA/Atlantic Records.
Despite its winking title, taken from the piece of street graffiti that makes up its cover, it seems to be a record with a lot weighing on it: a response of sorts to his perceived public image — the first song is titled “SKRILLEX IS DEAD” and samples of people saying that exact thing are littered throughout the record — and a return to form.
