Rio Ferdinand reckons Manchester United should be looking for a head coach, not a manager, to succeed Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils are reportedly set to part ways with Ten Hag after a season that can only be described as disastrous, in spite of their 2-1 FA Cup triumph over neighbours Manchester City at Wembley.

United's minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is leading the hunt for a new boss, and Ferdinand offered the billionaire some advice on his Vibe with FIVE podcast this week. "I want the best coach around, somebody who speaks the language, can communicate with the players and someone who can implement a playing style and really coach the hell out of young players, as well as the experienced players, and get all the players together to create a cohesive unit." Ferdinand, who made 455 appearances for United, also recommended that the club appoint a senior figure to oversee operations and alleviate some of the non-footballing responsibilities from the head coach, reports the Mirror.
