Last week Brits were warned that an energy price cap rise could cost them around £693 more a year than normal, so more people than ever are now doing anything they can to reduce their output.
What most people don't know, though, is that boiling your kettle is way more expensive than you might think. The money-saver, known only as scott8bits, explained how it costs as much as £400 each to frequently boil your kettle. READ MORE: Dragons Den product branded 'ridiculous' has since been sold millions of times and is used every day But instead of boiling the kettle each time you fancy a cuppa, he suggests filling your kettle up and turning it on, the Mirror reports.
After you've poured out enough for a cuppa, the rest - roughly five or six cups more - should be poured into a thermos and saved for later.
The thermos will keep the extra water heated ready for the next time you fancy a brew, meaning you don't need to use the kettle again that day.
