It's officially Pancake Day – AKA one of the best days of the year. Of course you can consume the flat cake 365 days a year if you wish, but there is something undeniably special about tucking into a plate of pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.

Plus it’s the perfect recipe for when you realised you used all the milk up on the morning cereal. Ingredients: 125g plain flour 4 tablespoons caster sugar 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 egg, beaten 250ml Beer (whichever is your favourite) 30g butter Method: Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together in a bowl.
