Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Simon Jordan reckons Rangers' recruitment process is a case of the "blind leading the deaf" as he struggles to understand the thought process behind recent appointments.Belgian Philippe Clement is the latest in the big chair at Ibrox after he was appointed as Michael Beale's successor.
The former coach under Steven Gerrard was sacked, just like predecessor Gio van Bronckhorst as the battle to replicate the success Gerrard delivered goes on.
Graeme Souness' recommendations were reportedly sought after, but his shout of Frank Lampard was ultimately cast aside, and Clement got the nod ahead of Kevin Muscat.Jordan has questioned whether asking Souness for his thoughts should have meant he sat in on interviews.
His opinion of the current Ibrox powerbrokers isn't high and Jordan can't fathom the thinking behind appointing such wildly different types of managers, which only confirmed his suspicions, that were sewn on a visit to the Ibrox boardroom."It doesn't matter how much stature you have.
