Crocked Rangers full back Borna Barisic is set to find out today if he will be available for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic.
The Croatian defender was forced off just 12 minutes into the Light Blues 4-0 win over Hibs at Ibrox Stadium as he clutched his left thigh.
Barisic was replaced by Ridvan Yilmaz in Philippe Clement’s first game in charge of Rangers but the Turkish star wasn’t included in Michael Beale’s European squad, meaning the Belgian boss faces a problem. Record Sport understands the Rangers medics will assess Barisic today when the squad report to the Training Centre at Auchenhowie but if the 30-year-old isn’t fit to travel then Clement will have to look at alternative left back options.
Although predominantly right backs, Dujon Sterling or younger Adam Devine can fill in on the opposite flank. Former Chelsea kid Sterling has made seven appearances since his summer arrival from Stamford Bridge but has started just once – against Morton in the Viaplay Cup – while Devine’s only appearance came off the bench in that same game against Ton.
