Emergency services rushed to the crash, at the junction of Swinton Hall Road and Pendlebury Road, shortly before 2pm this afternoon.
Witnesses reported seeing two fire crews, a number of police officers, and two ambulances at the scene of the "bad crash". The accident has caused delays along Swinton Hall Road, with traffic queueing in both directions on the approach.
