The smash, which involved up to four cars and a lorry, took place between junctions 26 and 27 near Parbold and Wigan shortly after noon today.It's not been confirmed how many people were injured, but Merseyside Road Policing Unit said those hurt were 'in a serious but stable condition'.Remarkably none of the occupants of the BMW were injured, while the lorry driver was airlifted to hospital as a 'precautionary measure'It was one of 34 crashes North West Motorway Police dealt with between 7am and 5pm on Saturday as snow storms and icy conditions blasted the region.Police have urged anyone travelling tonight to 'allow extra time for your journey and keep your distance from the vehicle in front'.Images from the M6 crash show a BMW trapped.
