The MTV Movie and TV Awards will not be going ahead for 2024. Fans are being informed that this year's event is going to be postponed due to the ceremony getting a brand new makeover.

A source told The Hollywood Reporter the show will be returning to screens with a new ‘reimagined’ format - but that won't be until 2025.

A reason behind the postponement has not been confirmed. Originally named the MTV Movie Awards, the annual event began in 1992, before updating its name to what it's known as today in 2017.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 awards were also cancelled. The 2023 ceremony was originally to be hosted by Drew Barrymore, but the Hollywood actress dropped out in an act of solidarity with the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.
