A huge fire has been sparked on a freight train on a line out of London into Kent. An enormous column of thick black smoke could be seen pluming into the sky after the train caught ablaze between Sevenoaks and Kent this morning.

The fire shut down the Southeastern rail route between Sevenoaks and Orpington, spelling commuting misery for those still heading into the Capital, Kent Live reported.

The power has been switched off on the lines at Dunton Green, affecting Southeastern and Thameslink services. Kent Fire and Rescue Service has urged people in the area to close windows and doors, and to avoid the area if possible. Have you witnessed the incident?
