Sitting on the sofa while his mum comes in and out of the room with a cigarette, this is the moment Ryan Sheridan spoke to police about Kimberley McAssey for the first time.
Captured on an officer's body-worn camera, video footage shows Sheridan giving his account of what happened, almost 31 hours since Ms McAssey is believed to have died.
Sheridan, now 34, is currently in prison for a Class A drug supply offence. He refused to attend Ms McAssey's inquest at Rochdale Coroners' Court this week, despite being summonsed to give evidence.
Coroner Joanne Kearsley highlighted how Sheridan was the sole witness to what went on in his flat at Sherbourne Court, in Prestwich, in the early hours of February 20, 2021.
