Scottish Government to help hard hit students with £20m Covid fund

financial support if they are struggling to meet accommodation and other costs.Backed by £20 million of new funding, students in financial hardship can apply directly to their college or university’sCoronavirus Discretionary Fund.Students have reported that they are facing financial challenges, unlike last year when furlough from part time jobs, living in family homes or spending significantly less due to lockdown created some stability.This summer despite the release from lockdown many are finding it hard to secure part time jobs and for some this is their only income between terms.This can lead to problems with making rent, paying bills and keeping accommodation for term time, adding to what has already been a disrupted and stressful year.
