Schools across Scotland could be closed early ahead of the Christmas holidays in a bid to halt the spread of the Omicron variant across the country.
Health Secretary Humza Yousaf announced that the Scottish Government is "considering" closing schools a number of days ahead of schedule.
The majority of schools in Scotland are set to close for the festive period next week, however that could be moved forward amid fears of the new strain of the virus.
Earlier today Yousaf revealed that First Minister Nicola Sturgeon would announced new covid restrictions in parliament tomorrow due to fears over Omicron.
