The top 50 gastropubs across the UK have been revealed, and only one Scottish spot appears on the list.Presented by Estrella Damm, the list was created in 2009 with the purpose of "recognising the hardworking individuals in the gastropubs industry".
It celebrates the best food and drink that the nation has to offer.The only Scottish eatery to appear in the top 50 is The Scran and Scallie in Edinburgh.
The Stockbridge gastropub features a modern Scottish menu, as well as draught and bottled beers and whiskies.The Top 50 Gastropubs list said: "A long-term favourite on the Top 50 Gastropubs list, this pub showcases great Scottish ‘scran’ alongside a range of traditionally brewed ales and artisan beers served against a cosy, family-friendly, backdrop."Describing itself as "Edinburgh's leading gastropub", The Scran and Scallie "presents exceptional pub classics, with a fresh, modern twist".
It offers seasonal menus with ingredients sourced from the "very best" local Scottish suppliers.The menus are led by award-winning Chefs Tom Kitchin and Dominic Jack, along with Head Chef Jamie Knox.
