Scott Brown will bid to crash the party of an old pal when Raith Rovers first foot Somerset this Saturday. The Fifers head to town looking to give newly installed boss Barry Robson a flying start. But Ayr gaffer Brown says his side will be ready to make it a miserable start for the new Kirkcaldy chief.Brown told the Ayrshire Post: “I know Robbo well having played with him at Celtic and he was also up at Aberdeen coaching the youngsters when I was there.“He’s a top guy and it’s a good appointment by Raith so I’m sure he’ll do well there – we just need to make sure that starts after Saturday.“It gives us a new challenge in terms of how they may play and I’m sure he’ll come in with new ideas for them, so we’ll be ready for that.”Brown, meanwhile, has pledged to go into the January shopping market with a new striker his top priority.Ayr drew a blank in front of goal against Morton on Saturday despite dominating the game, highlighting the need for more threat up top.Brown added: “I think you can see that’s the area where we’ve been missing.
We’ve had the injury to big Anton (Dowds) and we’re missing that natural goalscorer in there.“Against Morton, we had something like 15 shots on goal but only three on target.
That was the disappointment.”As many as three of the current first team squad could be moved on to free up wages, with Brown potentially in the market for cover at centre half.It follows Frankie Musonda straining his quad and facing up to six weeks out.Brown added: “That’s an area where we may look to do something as Frankie is capable of jumping into a number of positions across the back.”
