A Scots mum has been left devastated after she came home to find her ceilings caved in by a huge flood.Lubna Kerr, from Edinburgh, opened her front door to find her house wrecked with torrents of water gushing down the stairs after pipes burst at the property.

The mum-of-three now faces a major clean up operation of the five-bedroom detached house in Balerno - and she expects to be out of the home for at least three months.

Images of the aftermath, shared by Edinburgh Live, show the extent of the damage with entire rooms sodden. Lubna, who is an actress, said: "I came back on Sunday evening to find the ceilings down in the hall, bedroom and spare room - there was water coming from everywhere, it was like Niagara Falls. "I could hear the sound of water from the garage when I pulled up in the car but never expected how bad it was.

There were two burst pipes - caused by the big freeze and then the thaw."As Lubna, also a registered pharmacist, awaits assessors putting a cost on the damage with three ceilings down, a damaged garage and wrecked kitchen, she is not alone.
