Scots man bitten on face by false widow spider left fighting for life in hospital

Largs and Millport Weekly News her husband was cutting a tree recently when he was bitten above the eye by a false widow spider.

Within 48 hours of the agonising bite, his eye had become swollen and he lost full control of his body.With his condition deteriorating, Margaret rushed her husband to hospital where doctors revealed he had inflammation of the brain.

Medics were initially "stumped" by her husband's illness and didn't link it to the spider bite. Margaret told Largs and Millport Weekly News: “It was horrible and for a time it really didn’t look good for him, even the doctors were stumped by the cause.
