Scots flight from Orlando declares mid-air emergency after passenger 'becomes unwell'

A flight to Edinburgh declared a mid-air emergency on Saturday morning while en route from Orlando, Florida. The Virgin Atlantic plane, flight VIR226, issued a squawk code 7700, signaling a 'general emergency,' shortly after departing from the U.S.

airport around 1:56 am on August 31. Virgin Atlantic later confirmed that a passenger had become unwell, and the aircraft was met by a medical team upon landing, reports Edinburgh Live.

Flightradar24 wrote on X: " #VS226 from Orlando to Edinburgh is squawking 7700, indicating a general emergency. Reason currently unknown."
