Scots cops lock down street after man is attacked outside pharmacy

Police have locked down a street in Johnstone after a man was seriously assaulted in the street.Officers descended on Houstoun Square in the Renfrewshire town at around 3.45pm, setting up a cordon between the Dessert Kings takeaway and Penman's pharmacy, where the square meets William Street.

A Police Scotland spokesperson has since confirmed that a man was attacked and has been taken to hospital.Images from the scene show multiple police vehicles and two ambulances, alongside an ambulance incident response unit, parked at and inside the sealed-off area.One local resident, who asked not to be identified, said: "As far as I heard, a guy was attacked and taken away in an ambulance with a policeman going with him in the ambulance.

The whole area is cordoned off."A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Houstoun Square in Johnstone at around 3.45pm on Thursday, 23 March, after a man was the victim of a serious assault."He has been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries remain ongoing.
