Scots are in for a dreich few days weather wise and some major disruption to travel as the Met Office has issued another yellow alert across the country.
The weather warning for wind will come into force on Thursday morning (August 22), from 1am, and is set to be in place until 9am, Forecasters say people can expect strong winds leading to some travel disruption at first on Thursday.Wind gusts up to 60 mph are expected in some locations, with forecasters warning: "These gusts will be strong enough to blow over a few trees, given that they are currently in full leaf."The warning is in place across the country, taking in Central, Tayside and Fife regions, as well as the south west of Scotland, the Borders and regions across the Central belt and Strathclyde.
Drivers are advised to check road conditions before heading out and people are being urged to check public transport schedules before embarking on any journey.The Met Office reports: "A spell of very strong southwesterly winds will occur during the early hours of Thursday, easing from the west during the morning.
Gusts of 50 mph are likely fairly widely with some gusts of 60 mph in exposed locations, including roads and bridges in north Wales, as well as roads passing over high ground in northern England and southern Scotland."Scots are warned to be prepared for some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.
