Scotland's best fine dining restaurant announced as Ayrshire venue beats Glasgow heavyweights

An Ayrshire restaurant has fended off Glasgow heavyweights to be crowned the best fine dining venue in Scotland. The Glasshouse in Kilmaurs beat The Gannet, Number 16, Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond and Geoffrey’s Smeddle’s Old Peat Inn to take the top title at The Food Awards Scotland 2022.The restaurant, situated in the heart of Rowallan's 600-acre estate, was highly commended last year but has gone one stage further this year.Run by siblings George, 32 and Katy Campbell, 28, the pair said the recognition was a huge boost.Executive chef Ian Mackie heads up a team of talented individuals said the restaurant's menus present the very best that Scotland has to offer.Ian, formerly of The Buttery, said: “We love what we produce here in Ayrshire and we’re proud to source only the best local suppliers to ensure that only the freshest ingredients make it onto your plate."Not only does the food taste great, it means our menus transition with the seasons, allowing us to innovate and present the very best of Scotland.”The Food Awards Scotland 2022 recognised the success of local professionals and establishments that continue to deliver great flavours and experiences to their customers.Katy who heads up weddings and events said: “We’re thrilled for our team to be recognised and celebrated, we’ve worked tirelessly to retain all our team throughout the many challenges of the last few years and this has ensured consistency with our offering.
